How necessary are these? Anyone here use them? It seems to me that laying a recorder flat with both ends exposed might increase the rate of drying. Having the bell closed off on a stand seems counterproductive. However if a stand causes moisture to drain towards the bottom of the recorder…this may outweigh having one end of he recorder sealed off. Perhaps drying the mouthpiece is the most important thing…?
Any info or experience on this topic would be helpful! Thanks and Merci to our friends in Canada.

I keep most of my recorders in recorder bags or cases and then flat in a small trunk thing. The plastic ones I’m using are ranged upright in stout box. I’d love a stand! Geert Van Gele (Thoughts on the Recorder) has instructions how to make a simple one if you’re at all handy. He says that if you have a stand then oiling your recorder “is a breeze”. I notice you have questions about oiling as well. Basically, his stand is a stout wooden plant and holes drilled to fit dowel. I really ought to make one or at least persuade practical husband to make one which I then sand and make pretty!
