Can anyone point me in the direction of an understanding of quarter notes on the recorder? I know there is a book by Bowman and Bennetts, but I was hoping for a brief introduction. I guess this would be relevant to klezmer, North African Turkish and perhaps Balkan music.
You mean quarter Tones, not quarter notes.
If you’re really interested then you should get that book “the Quarter-Tone Recorder Manual”. It’s very systematic.
Brief introduction? Find all the fingerings that are too sharp or too flat, and use them in microtonal music.
Really. Get the book. I ordered mine from Honeysuckle music.
