    the basic fingering is flat and the best alternate fingering (imo) is just the thumb hole fully covered but that is akward.
    how do you play F# on your alto recorder?

    I play it with the standard fingering but it requires a higher breath pressure to make it not sound so flat.

    I occasionally use the thumb hole covered fingering for F#. Perhaps you find the fingering awkward because the recorder isn’t stable in your hands? I stabilize the instrument by using 5 (opposite my RH thumb) as a bridge finger.
