I’m finding the top D on my Aulos bass is very unpredictable. Sometimes it sounds OK, other times it refuses to overblow. Experimenting with the thumbhole percentage and breath pressure don’t reliably solve the problem. If you approach the note from the C below (without tonguing) it’s much improved. Moisture can aggravate the problem of course but it’s not the sole cause.
I’d be really grateful for any tips!
